_Otto Township Supervisor’s Meeting Minutes
October 8, 2025
The Otto Township Supervisor’s meeting was held on October 8, 2025, at The Otto Township Office Building. Board members present were Supervisors Gerard Rettger, Dennis Mong and Christopher Kaluza, Secretary Jeannine Drummond. Visitors in attendance include Carol Stuck, Tina Crandell, Sharon Schwab, Colleen Ross, Bill Cochran, Julie Cochran and Jay Paul Kahle.
CJ Kaluza called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. with The Pledge of Allegiance.
Visitors were welcomed.
September meeting minutes were reviewed. Gerard motioned to accept, Christopher 2nd AIF
The treasurer’s report, bills and bank statements were reviewed. Motion Christopher, Dennis 2nd AIF.
Park Report- Derrick Francis asked about having a water line put in on the softball field for watering the new infield. CJ will check into getting it done.
Road Work Report- CJ read the road report.
Police Report- Chief of Police, Don Nies, has retired due to health issues effective October 3, 2025.
OLD BUSINESS:
Updates Kansas Branch Project- No new updates.
Berger Hollow Bridge- Bridge will be delivered and set on Friday, October 10, 2025.
6 Oil Valley Road- House has been removed and everything went well. The Township was able to get this project done at no cost with a grant.
A resolution for disposal of property under $2,000.00 was presented and signed. Gerard motioned, Christopher 2nd AIF
Road closure barricades are on hold until Spring.
The Police Board will be interviewing candidates to send to the Police Academy.
The Supervisors are still interviewing for the vacant Township Worker position.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dennis motioned to advertise for Salt/Sand bids and Diesel Fuel Bids, Christopher 2nd AIF
Town wide Trick or Treating will be on October 31st from 6-7:30pm.
The annual Otto Township Christmas ATV Parade will be held on December 13, 2025. The parade will go through Rixford starting at approximately 6 pm and then through Duke Center starting at approximately 6:45 pm.
Christopher discussed the possibility of applying for the DEP drive forward grant to replace an older vehicle with a newer, more efficient vehicle. Christopher motioned to pursue the application, Dennis 2nd AIF.
A new Part Time Police officer, Victor Suarez, was presented. Gerard motioned to hire pending his ACT 57 background check being completed, Christopher 2nd AIF.
Christopher motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:26pm. Dennis 2nd AIF.
