February 11, 2026

The Otto Township Supervisor’s meeting was held on February 11, 2026, at The Otto Township Office Building. Board members present were Supervisors Gerard Rettger, Dennis Mong and Christopher Kaluza, Secretary Jeannine Drummond. Visitors in attendance include Earl Strait, Linda Strait, Tim Crandall, Corey Wilcox, Steve Kerr, and Colleen Ross.

Christopher Kaluza called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance

Visitors were welcomed.

Earl Strait asked about the Township plowing at the Firehall. CJ said they have been instructed to plow there.

January meeting minutes were reviewed. Gerard motioned to accept, Dennis 2nd AIF

The treasurer’s report, bills and bank statements were reviewed. Motion Christopher, Dennis 2nd AIF.

Park Report- Closed

Road Work Report- CJ read the road report.

Police Report- Chris Schwab read the January police report

OLD BUSINESS:

Updates Kansas Branch Project-Christopher and 2 Township employees will attend a dirt and gravel workshop on March 31st.

Parking on Main Street and Grant Street- An ordinance needs done for parking on Main Street. The issues on Grant Street have been better.

Clark Street Bridge- Waiting on Engineering.

Land separation for Steven and Kathleen Kerr was approved. Motion Gerard, Christopher 2nd, AIF.

NEW BUSINESS:

Grants have been received for Berger Hollow and Brooklyn Street Bridges.  1 million dollars from PennDOT multimodal just for Berger and $600,000 for both bridges from DCED Multimodal. Advertising for an engineer is the first step. Christopher motioned to advertise, Dennis 2nd AIF.

Christopher asked about possibly purchasing a used salt spreader for the new 550 truck at a cost of $1300.00, Motion to purchase Gerard, Christopher 2nd AIF.

The Supervisors are working with the Solicitor to add a policy regarding pre-trip inspections on all the vehicles and equipment. This will be added to the Employee Handbook.

An ordinance regarding water run off from driveways was discussed.

The police department needs new computers. Gerard is working with Nate Rodgers to get pricing.

Chris Schwab is now the acting Police Chief for Otto Township. Gerard motioned for a pay increase to $23.00, Christopher 2nd AIF

A pay increase for Justin Perkins was also approved for $ .50 per hour.

Spring Clean Up- Eldred Borough is May 4, 2026, Eldred Township is May 11, 2026.

Otto Township will have Garage Sale Day on June 13, 2026, and Spring Cleanup on June 15, 2026. Pricing will be set at next month’s meeting.

Jeannie asked about having Cintas rental supply a rug at the door entrance of the Office. It will be $6.00 per week and changed weekly. Gerard motioned, Christopher 2nd AIF.

DCNR grant for parking lot at park was discussed. Engineering fees will be between $1,000-$5,000. A decision will be made at March meeting.

The old red garbage truck needs new wheels. Cost is $150.00 each. Will hold off until the new truck is fixed.

The newer garbage truck had some mechanical issues that need fixed. Repairs that have already been done are $1900.00 plus towing. The cost to fix the remaining issues will be $2958.00. Dennis motioned to have everything fixed, Gerard 2nd AIF.

Gerard motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:08 pm. Dennis 2nd AIF.
