July 9, 2025

The Otto Township Supervisor’s meeting was held on July 9, 2025, at The Otto Township Office Building. Board members present were Supervisors Gerard Rettger, Dennis Mong and CJ Kaluza, Secretary Jeannine Drummond. Visitors in attendance include Mike Stuck, Sharon Schwab, Tina Crandell, Colleen Ross, Earl Strait, Aaron Atkins, Bill Cochran and Corey Wilcox.

CJ Kaluza called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. with The Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors were welcomed- Earl Strait asked about having the restroom by the Lions Building at the park checked. It has been leaking.

June meeting minutes were reviewed. Gerard motioned to accept, Dennis 2nd AIF.

The treasurer’s report, bills and bank statements were reviewed. Both May and June were reviewed to resolve an issue with the State account treasurer report. All bank statements are correct, and treasurer report is now corrected for April and May. June statements are all correct. Motion CJ, Dennis 2nd AIF.

Park Report- CJ met with Mr. Splain from the school. They want to put new material on the softball field. The Supervisors have no objections.

The Nippers would like to put fencing up on the right side of the SR League field. CJ asked how many teams will be using the field. If enough teams will use the field the supervisors would consider it.

Road Work Report- CJ read the road report. CJ asked about purchasing a transit. It is approximately $299.00 Gerard motioned to approve, CJ 2nd AIF

Police Report- Chris has been working a few hours when available.

OLD BUSINESS:

Updates Kansas Branch Project- No new updates. Hoping to start in August

Berger Hollow Bridge- Bids for the Temporary bridge accepted through July 9 at 5PM. ADM was the only bidder with 3 different bridge sizes. A 35 foot is $38,860.00; 40 foot is $45,660.00 and 45 foot is $54,360.00. The supervisors discussed getting the 45 foot will be beneficial so it can be taken to Brooklyn Street when done at Berger Hollow. Motion Gerard, 2nd CJ AIF for the 45-foot bridge. Funds to pay for the bridge will be taken from the Reserve account.

6 Oil Valley Road- Deed has been received. A grant for the demolition of the building was submitted. CJ met with the grant committee. Funds are available. The county will handle all the bidding. The grant will cover full cost of the demolition.

NEW BUSINESS:

Jeannine presented the Haines and Company 2024 Financial Audit for review. The supervisors reviewed and had no issues with the audit. Gerard motioned to accept, CJ 2nd AIF

County Liquid fuels allocation for 2025 is $3730.44. CJ motioned to use for Salt and Sand, Dennis 2nd AIF.

Hometown Days contract was read. Gerard stated that if the contract needs changed next year it needs to be done a few months before the event. CJ motioned to approve, Gerard 2nd and Dennis opposed.

 

Flooding Issues in Duke Center- CJ discussed with the state issues with the crossover pipe that runs under the road.

Solar and Wind Ordinance- The Supervisors discussed the possibility of doing an ordinance. They will look at other townships ordinances and discuss further.

Jeannine presented a letter looking for interested Supervisors to join the SWAC committee for the County. Gerard is interested and will contact Laura Lord.

McKean County Association of Township Officials will hold the annual Fall convention on October 2, 2025. The Supervisors will notify next month if interested in attending.
