May 14, 2025

The Otto Township Supervisor’s meeting was held on May 14, 2025, at The Otto Township Office Building. Board members present were Supervisors Gerard Rettger, Dennis Mong and CJ Kaluza, Secretary Jeannine Drummond. Visitors in attendance include Mike Stuck, Carol Stuck, Sharon Schwab, Tina Crandell, Colleen Ross, Kristal Gross, Chris Claycomb, Earl Strait, Linda Strait, Kyle Goodwill, Chrissy Schoonover and Bill Cochran.

CJ Kaluza called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. with The Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors were welcomed- Right Brothers Aviation would like permission to land on the old Sr League field the last day of school, this will be a one-time use. The supervisors agreed to grant permission.

Chrissy Schoonover asked about when Berger Hollow bridge will be opened. Supervisors stated they are working on a plan and applying for grants.

Colleen Ross mentioned making sure to update grants if needed after they are submitted.

Kyle Goodwill mentioned the issues with drainage and water on ball fields at the park.

Earl Strait presented a letter for an Eagle Scout project. The Supervisors approve the project.

April meeting minutes were reviewed. CJ motioned to accept, Gerard 2nd AIF.

The treasurer’s report, bills and bank statements were reviewed. Gerard motioned to accept. CJ 2nd AIF.

Park Report-

Road Work Report- CJ read the road report.

Police Report-

OLD BUSINESS:

Updates Kansas Branch Project- Agreement was signed and the first check has been received.

A new township road worker was announced. After several interviews the Supervisors agreed that Jacob Sirline was the best fit for the position. 20 applications were submitted and 6 had CDL’s. All applicants with a CDL were set up with an interview. CJ motioned to hire Jacob, Gerard 2nd AIF. Jacob’s pay is set at $20.25 an hour.

The Supervisors re-affirmed action taken at the Special meeting on March 24, 2025, regarding a Township Employee. Motion CJ, Gerard 2nd AIF

The changes to the Employee Handbook that were discussed at the Special Meeting have been put on hold.

Repository Bid for 1398 Looker Mt Trail was accepted. Motion Gerard, 2nd Dennis AIF

NEW BUSINESS:

CJ presented information for bulk oil purchases from Sandburg Oil. CJ motioned to approve Diesel Oil, Hydraulic Oil and oil pumps for each barrel, Dennis 2nd AIF

CJ requested to change the employee handbook regarding work week hours. Currently it reads for 5- 8-hour days. The change would state road work employees will work 4- 10-hour days in the Summer. Motion CJ, 2nd Gerard AIF.

The subdivision for Mark Tompkins and Richard Tompkins was reviewed and approved.

The subdivision for Coast Property Holdings and Matthew Coast was reviewed and accepted.

Checks were signed for the deed recording for 6 Oil Valley to the Township.

The Memorial Day Parade will take place in Duke Center on May 26th at 9AM.

The winter maintenance agreement for Sweitzer Drive was put on hold until next month’s meeting.
